In your custom_functions.php file (which is even easier to update in Thesis 1.6) add the following lines of code:

/*move the nav bar below the header*/
remove_action('thesis_hook_before_header', 'thesis_nav_menu');
add_action('thesis_hook_after_header', 'thesis_nav_menu');

Voila! That’s all there is to it.
